报告人简介：

Strom教授是俄罗斯JSC水电工程研究院地球动力学研究中心首席科学家、国际滑坡研究协会资深会员，兼任著名国际期刊 Landslides 编委。Strom教授研究方向涵盖了大型滑坡、滑坡坝等重大地质灾害以及活动断裂等领域，具有超过40年的学术研究和工程实践经验。作为大型灾难性滑坡研究领域的国际权威专家之一，具有重要的国际影响力，在Landslides、Geomorphology等国际著名期刊发表学术论文100余篇，总引用超过1000次，并负责撰写和主编了Rockslides and Rock Avalanches of Central Asia、Landslides from Massive Rock Slope Failure、 Natural and Artificial Rockslide Dams 等科学巨著。

报告内容简介：

Short course of six lectures will be devoted to rock avalanches – probably one the most disastrous natural phenomena in mountainous regions. Despite more than a century of their study, mechanism of their abnormal mobility still remains mysterious and have not been understood completely yet.

Basic characteristics of these natural phenomena, their classification, quantitative relationships and closely related problems such as their association with earthquakes, and ability to form natural dams will be discussed in first five lectures listed hereafter and illustrated by case studies from the Central Asia region mainly.
