报告人:Stefano Utili

报告题目:Geotechnical modelling of landslides and recent algorithmic developments for 3D DEM analyses of convex blocks and jointed rock masses

时间:726日(周二)下午15:00-16:30

地点:新实验楼211(珙桐园对面)

报告简介:

First simple analytical models suitable for the parametric assessment of the stability of slopes at the large scale (catchment area) will be presented. These methods, based on the use of the kinematic method of limit analysis, are well suited to produce new generation hazard maps accounting for the kinematics of the landslide mechanisms and to be used in conjunction with satellite InSAR monitoring techniques to produce estimates of the expected volumes of landslides. Then, recent algorithmic developments in the Distinct Element Method will be presented. First a novel algorithm for contact detection between polyhedral (3-D) convex particles is introduced. Noting that the space occupied by a polyhedron can be defined using a set of linear inequalities, the task of contact detection is cast as a standard problem in the field of convex optimization, for which there exist established solution procedures. Second an efficient rock slicing algorithm for the generation of random sets of non-persistent joints in rock masses replicating in principle any type of fracture network is presented. The key advantage of the new rock slicing algorithm is that only a single data structure level is required rather than the 2 or 3 levels currently employed in the commercial code 3DEC and other open source codes. This implies that the calculation of intersections between discontinuities and block faces is no longer needed. Various applications of the method in underground excavations and slope stability performed in the open source code YADE will be illustrated.
