邓扬博士,美国新泽西州蒙特克莱尔州立大学杰出教授,可持续性科学研究生项目主任, 美国注册环境工程师。目前,担任Journal of Hazardous Materials,Journal of Environmental Engineering (ASCE)和Water Environment Research编辑以及Chemical Engineering Journal Advances编委。研究领域聚焦于创新的水处理技术和设计,以应对传统和新兴污染物的挑战,并在应对气候变化的背景下增强水工程系统的韧性和可持续性。发表期刊论文151篇,著作章节5篇,被引13,100余次,h-指数54。研究团队获得了超过500万美元的研究经费。获得2022 年度国际水协会(International Water Association, IWA)“项目创新 (Project Innovation Award)” 金奖,2019年美国环境工程师和科学家学会(AAEES)“卓越成就奖(Superior Achievement Award)”,2018年美国华裔环境工程与科学教授协会(CAPEES)“Nanova前沿研究奖”等多项奖项。
报告内容简介:
Our environment faces different challenges, spanning from environmental pollution, climate change, sprawling urbanization, population growth, to natural disasters. Environmental engineers design systems and find solutions to surmount the challenges at the interface between humans and the environment. My research program focuses on environmental systems and processes. We use physical and chemical principles to tackle water quality-related issues, particularly in urban areas and climate vulnerable coastal communities. Because water actively interacts with other environmental elements (e.g., air, soil, sediments, and solid waste), our efforts will ultimately benefit the whole environmental system. This presentation will introduce two intertwined research threads that my group has nurtured over the past years. The first theme is technology innovations for mitigation of environmental pollutants in a cost- and energy-efficient manner. Examples include emerging advanced reduction processes (ARPs) for the removal of per-and poly-fluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) and multi-functional ferrate(VI) technologies for water reuse and food production. The second thread is to advance adaptation of environmental systems to climate change. Specifically, the topics include disaster resilience of water supply, urban stormwater treatment, and water supply for urban agriculture.
